SEASONS

One of the most common questions I receive is, "What time of year should I schedule my photos?" The truth is that every season offers something beautiful and unique! Whether you love colorful blooms of flowers, greenery, sunsets, or cozy autumn colors, there's a perfect season for every style and vision.
One of the biggest misconceptions about senior photos is that there is a "perfect" time to take them. The truth is, there is never a too early or too late time to schedule your session it all depends on the look and experience you want!
Some seniors love scheduling their session during the summer before their senior year when everything is lush, green, and full of sun. Others prefer spring of their senior year for blooming flowers, fresh colors, and warmer weather. Both seasons create beautiful images and give you plenty of time to enjoy the experience!

Choosing the Perfect Season for Your Outdoor Photo Session
spring
Spring Sessions (April – May)
Spring temperatures can vary from cool to warm, so flexibility is key. Expect mild temperatures with occasional breezy days. Due to the weather the trees begin to bloom, flowers start appearing, and the landscape turns vibrant shades of green! Outfits seen in the spring seem to be more of pastel colors, light blues, blush pinks, lavender, sage green, flowy dresses and light layers such as linen or denim.
This season is great for family sessions that want to avoid the heat as well as seniors that are graduating and want to show off their sports/college decision!

Things to keep in mind: Spring weather can be unpredictable, and some locations may still be recovering from winter conditions. However, the beautiful blooms often make it worth the wait.
Summer
Summer Sessions (June – August)
Summer sessions are typically warm and sunny. Evening golden-hour sessions offer the best lighting while avoiding the hottest part of the day. The summer is flexible with morning and evening sessions due to school being out. Due to the weather we see lush green landscapes, full trees, vibrant wildflowers, and beautiful sunsets. Everything is at its peak growth! Outfits seen in the summer seem to be dresses and rompers, light neutrals, flowy fabrics and short sleeves or sleeveless dresses.
This season is great for family sessions that want to capture moments before their kids head back to school!

Things to keep in mind: Bring water, touch-up makeup, and consider lighter clothing choices to stay comfortable during warmer temperatures. Those with little ones consider early morning or evenings for cooler temps for the littles or consider spring as an option!
fall
Fall Sessions (September – November)
Fall sessions are typically cooler temperatures make outdoor sessions more comfortable while still allowing plenty of beautiful sunshine. September is the month of transition, so early dates will be more late summer vibes as late dates will be more cooler fall ish vibes. Due to the weather we see the changing leaves create stunning shades of gold, orange, red, and deep green. The scenery feels warm, cozy, and timeless for warmer shots. Outfits seen in the fall seem to be rust, mustard, olive green, burgundy, cream, and brown, then layered outfits, sweaters and boots.
This season is great for family sessions that want to send out holiday cards before it gets too cold!

Things to keep in mind: Fall dates book extremely quickly, often several months in advance due to holiday cards as well. If you're hoping for peak color, it's best to reserve your session early.
